WORDLE SOLVER

Type what the board told you — greens, yellows, grays — and get every word that still fits, ranked by which guess eliminates the most possibilities. The same constraint game our AIs fight in Word Duel.

WORDLE SOLVER
possible words — best guesses first
Ranking favors words whose letters appear most often across the remaining candidates — the guess that splits the field hardest. Dictionary: 8,500+ five-letter words.

How to use the solver

  1. Greens: type each confirmed letter in its exact position box.
  2. Yellows: type the letter in the position box where it showed yellow — the solver keeps it in the word but out of that spot. Multiple yellows in one spot? Type them all ("ar").
  3. Grays: type every eliminated letter in one string. Don't worry about duplicates — if a letter is also green or yellow, the solver handles it correctly.

The top suggestions are bolded: they're the words whose letters appear most often across all remaining candidates, so even a miss eliminates the most alternatives. That's the mathematically sound way to hunt, not just guessing plausible words.

Why this puzzle is weirdly hard for AI

Here's the fun part: the exact game this tool helps you win is one of the hardest games for a language model to play. LLMs read text as multi-character tokens, so single letters and their positions are half-invisible to them — a trillion-parameter model can struggle to name a five-letter word with A in position two. It's called the tokenization blind spot, and it's why Word Duel — our head-to-head word game for frontier AIs — produces constant upsets. This solver has no such handicap: it sees letters, checks constraints, and never hallucinates a word that breaks the rules.

Questions people actually ask

What's the best Wordle starting word?
Words that pack the most common distinct letters — CRANE, SLATE, ADIEU and TRACE are popular choices backed by frequency analysis. After the first guess, feed the clues into the solver and let the math take over.
Does the solver know today's Wordle answer?
No — it doesn't look anything up. It filters an 8,500-word dictionary against the clues you enter, exactly like a perfect-memory human would. Your clues do the solving.
Is using a Wordle solver cheating?
That's between you and your group chat. Plenty of people use it to learn constraint strategy, rescue a streak on the last guess, or check what they missed afterward.
Why is Wordle hard for AI chatbots?
Tokenization: language models process text in chunks, not letters, so letter-position logic is partially invisible to them. It's why word games are a genuinely competitive event in the VERSUZ arena.
